Officer Killed As Robbers Raid Bank, Police Station In Osun

Armed robbers broke into a branch of Wema Bank in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State, on Tuesday, killing a policeman. A resident of the town, who spoke with Daily Trust, said the robbers also attacked the police station in the community. The deceased policeman was simply identified as Ahmed. According to the eyewitness, the armed robbers who also attacked the police station shot the policeman who exchanged fire with them. The robbers, who reportedly operated for about 30 minutes, carted away money from the bank located beside the palace of the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi. The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, a reinforcement team had been deployed in Iragbiji. Recently, a commercial bank in Iree, near Iragbiji, was robbed and a policeman was shot dead.

BREAKING: Buhari seeks NASS approval to borrow another $4bn, €710m loan

Buhari said the loan request is an addendum to the 2018-2020 borrowing plan. He also asked the lawmakers to approve grant components of $125 million. His request was contained in a letter read out by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, at the start of plenary on Tuesday. The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed that bandits killed an Inspector, Awulu Yahaya, who was serving under Dansadau Police Divisional Headquarters. Addressing newsmen at the state police command, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayuba Elkanah, said the Inspector was ambushed and killed by the bandits on his way to Gusau, the state capital. According to the commissioner, the deceased took permission from his DPO, Mr. Abdulahi Hussein, to go to a bank in Gusau to make some cash withdrawals. The commissioner further explained that on his way, he was attacked by the bandits, who killed him and made away with his motorcycle.
