N-Power: FG shortlists 550,000 Batch C applicants for final stage

Sadiya Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, made this known at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday. The  N-power programme  is a scheme established by Muhammadu Buhari on June 8, 2016, to address the issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development. In March, Farouq  inaugurated  the national social investment management systems (NASIMS) portal for Batch C applicants. She had explained that the applicants were requested to update their personal information and, thereafter, take an online test via the  NASIMS  Portal. Speaking at the press briefing, the minister said the successful candidates are being contacted via email addresses, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). “By the third week of May 2021, over 1.8 million Nigerians successfully updated their records and took the compulsory online test,” she said. “Further screening was undertaken and a short-list of 550,000 applicants qualified for the final select

The first ever Made-in-Nigeria mobile phone has been flaunted by President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari showed off the phone at a virtual Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday. Also present at the meeting was Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, NSA Babagana Monguno, AGF Abubakar Malami, Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed, Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed and SGF Boss Mustapha. The device was presented to Mr. Buhari by HMTI Otunba Niyi Adebayo at the State House, Abuja. 9th June, 2021. MAJOR GENERAL, SENIOR MILITARY OFFICER AND OTHERS SHOT EACH OTHER TO DEATH

The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) Inspector General Lt. Gen. Peter Dor Manjur Gatluak and one of his bodyguards shot at each other and sustained injuries this morning at the Military General Headquarters in Bilpam, Juba. The two were involved in an altercation that degenerated into a shoot-out.  The cause of the shootout is not yet clear according to senior military officers. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj today, army spokesman Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang confirmed the incident. “It was a shoot-out involving a lieutenant general and one of his bodyguards. I don’t have any information at the moment but I am waiting for an official briefing,” he said. "Once I get the accurate information from the top leadership then I will start briefing the media outlets. I am waiting for more information and he (Gen.
