Intelligence intercepted by a Nigerian security agency has revealed how the longest-reigning leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, died in a battle with rival ISWAP in Sambisa forest. Some bandits have invaded the Ungwan Gaida community near Kurmin Kaso in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna, killing eight persons. Several houses, including the Assemblies of God Churchm were razed by the bandits who came in large number. The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, identified those killed as Samaila Gajere, Bawa Gajere, Bitrus Baba, Umaru Baba, Solomon Samaila, Sambo Kasuwa and Samuila Kasuwa, as well as Gideon Bitrus. Aruwan said, “Security agencies have reported that bandits attacked Ungwan Gaida community, near Kurmin Kaso, Chikun LGA. “As of the time of this update, eight residents have been confirmed killed in this attack. “A building belonging to the Assemblies of God Church was razed by the bandits, along with several houses.” Similarly, the commissioner said the Nigerian Navy troops stationed in the Kujama general area neutralized three bandits and arrested two accomplices after repelling an attack on Wakwodna commu

THE Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his fellow governors of abandoning his administration in its face-off with the Nigeria Labour Congress. El-Rufai said this during a virtual meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum on Wednesday. Also at the meeting, a committee set up by the NGF recommended a petrol price of between N408.5 per litre and N380 per litre. It called for immediate removal of fuel subsidy. Before the committee submitted its report, El-Rufai had berated the forum. He also accused an unnamed governor of providing mobilisation funds for the NLC to destabilise Kaduna State. Workers in the state workers had on Monday begun a five-day strike over El-Rufai administration’s retrenchment of 45,000 workers and the alleged anti-labour policies.
