U.S. has started to talk with Iran about detained Americans, Biden national security advisor says

Mayhem in Imo: Okorocha arrested over forceful attempt to reclaim sealed estate

There was mayhem in Imo State on Sunday as former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, allegedly led a team of thugs to forcefully reclaim his wife’s Royal Palm Apartment Estate, recently sealed by the state government. Nigerian Tribune gathered that the estate was on Friday sealed by a government delegation led by Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, who said the government was implementing the report of a Judicial Commission of Enquiry on land use which recommended recovery of the estate and possible demolition, having been built on government land which is also a ‘Green Verge.’ However, the altercation that ensued when Okorocha’s team met face to face with the government team later resulted in the arrest of the former governor and some of his former appointees who accompanied him to the estate.

President of Benin Republic; Patrice Talon expressed to become Nigeria's 37th state

NEW STATE TO BE CREATED! Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has said that the President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon had expressed readiness of his country to become Nigeria's 37th state. Speaking after a close door meeting with Beninoise Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Aurélien Agbenonci, Onyeama said the Beninoise president made the offer when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari a few weeks back. He said; “The President of Benin said as far as they are concerned, they want (not just saying it like that) but in reality, Benin should be the 37th state of Nigeria. “We should really be one. They charged us to come together at ministerial level, to work out a framework for a sustainable relationship.” Onyeama further disclosed that both presidents also discussed agreements between the two countries to put the issue of smuggling to an end once and for all.

UPDATE  The Minister of Interior,  Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, says killers have been admitted to the All Progressives Congress. He, however, did not mention any alleged killers. Aregbesola, who is the immediate past governor of Osun State, spoke at his Ifofin, Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government Area, on Friday after he revalidated his APC membership. He said all manner of people could join the party, but advised that when the time comes for members to work together, people of shady character should be avoided. Sources close to the former governor said the relationship between him and his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola had degenerated following the defection of some prominent people into the party in the state.

NLC TO FG: PAY OUR MINIMUM WAGES OR STIKE

Nlc  The NLC said all workers in states where the national minimum wage is yet to be paid should proceed on strike till further notice. The congress stated that at least 18 states across the country were yet to conclude negotiations on payment of the minimum wage which is N30,000. The NLC urged the Federal Government to decrease the cost of gas sold to electricity companies for $1.5 cents in a bid to drive down electricity tariff.
