During a raid in Aba, Abia State, the Nigerian Army said it captured the Second- in- Command to the neutralised commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Awurum Eze, 48, a native of Umoneke Nta in Imo State' s Isiala- Mbano Local Government Area, was apprehended by the army. Eze had fled from his village on May 4 when operatives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) raided his village house in Isiala Mbano, where he was hiding, according to the Director, Army Public Relations.

Joshua Dogonyaro, a former commander of the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG), is dead. Dogonyaro, aged 80, died Thursday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Plateau state. The former chief of defence staff was said to have battled an undisclosed illness for some time. Joseph, his son, told NAN that he suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
