The security challenges facing Nigeria in recent times have taken a different twist in almost all the regions of the country. However, President Muhammadu Buhari APC led administration has spent millions of Naira in the procurement of sophisticated weapons and fighter aircraft to aid operations in the trenches. There has been recorded successes as more soldiers are being trained and deployed to some affected areas especially in the North East.  The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has concluded arrangements to embark on creation of additional polling units to provide for a good voting environment and effective implementation of the regulations and guidelines of the commission on election day AHEAD of the 2023 general and presidential elections. INEC While interacting with newsmen, polling units which form the basis on which citizens exercise their fundamental rights to vote and make electoral choices freely, must be areas where voters have access. According to the commission, the current configuration of 119,973 polling units was established by the defunct National Electoral Commission  of Nigeria, NECON in 1996 when Chief Karibi Dagogo-Jack was chairman of the commission between 1994 and1998 when late former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, was still in power.

Home  »  News  »  Mob set armed robbery suspect ablaze in Osun Mob set armed robbery suspect ablaze in Osun ON  DECEMBER 14, 2020 3:30 PM IN  NEWS By Shina Abubakar Police authority in Osun State has confirmed that a mob in Ile-Ife area of the State has set another armed robbery suspect ablaze for allegedly snatching a motorcycle from the owner. This was coming ten days after two suspects were also lynched by a mob around Lagere area of the town after failed attempt to snatch a motorcycle. Similarly, two female suspects were burnt to death by a mob at Iwo area of the state for allegedly attempting to kidnap a child. Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said the yet to be identified suspect, snatched a motorcycle from a part of the town on Sunday and was chased by commercial motorcyclists to Oke-Ogbo area where he was arrested.                     See all here  update
