A MEETING OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL (NSC) IS CURRENTLY HOLDING AT THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE PRESIDENTIAL VILLA ABUJA

A meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) is currently holding at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa Abuja with President Muhammadu Buhari presiding. Attending the meeting are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari. Others at the meeting are the Ministers of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd); Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi; Interior, Rauf Aregbesola as well as Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor; the three Service Chiefs and Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. The meeting is expected to review the current security situation in the country vis a vis the rising cases of kidnapping and banditry and proffer necessary solutions.

Mr Argungu, who represented Kebbi North in the 6th Senate, was arraigned before the Sokoto State High Court in Sokoto. The anti-corruption agency accused Mr Argungu of diverting the total N419, 744, 612. 30 invested in his company by Sokoto State  Government  to create jobs and boost the economy of the state. The money was said to have been paid by the Sokoto State Government as 40 percent equity stake in the former senator’s firm Hijrah Investment Nigeria Limited, owners of Hijrah Textile Ltd.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola at the weekend dismissed reports that he received 96- month salary arrears in secret when he served as the governor of Osun state. He described the report as a fiction written by elements bent on casting “aspersion on the integrity of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola” A statement from Aregbesola’s media aide, Sola Fasure, noted that the report carried by an online medium falls short of all known ethics of journalism. According to the statement, the author of the report “falsely claims that the Minister of Interior and immediate past governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, towards the end of his tenure, secretly received the backlog of his full salary for the entire period he was governor, contrary to his asserting that he never did.
