The Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSDC) Ahmed Audi says bandits operating in Nigeria have foreign sponsors. Audi disclosed this on Wednesday during the training workshop for state commandants of the NSCDC in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The training according to the agency is aimed at strengthening capacity on best practices for fostering effective leadership, civil-military relations, and conflict management, held in Abuja. Audi said the country is witnessing an asymmetric war that requires inter-agency collaboration among security agencies.

Hindus in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have decided to pardon the mob that vandalised and burned down a century-old temple in the province. Local clerics and members of the Hindu community held a meeting on Saturday to resolve the dispute. According to the dialogue, informally called jigra, the accused have tendered an apology over the attack and a similar incident in 1997. The Muslim clerics have assured full protection to the Hindus and their rights in accordance with the country’s Constitution. A reconciliation statement from the meeting would be presented to the Supreme Court in a bid to secure the release of the accused from detention.

AFP reported that military sources said the incident occurred near Gudumbali in the Lake Chad region on Thursday March 11. It was also alleged that 13 government fighters, including 10 troops were wounded in the ambush. A source said; “We lost 15 soldiers and four civilian JTF (militia) in the terrorists’ ambush in the forest near Gudumbali.” Another military source who gave the same toll, said the 10-vehicle convoy was on its way to Gudumbali from the town of Kukawa in Borno for a military operation against the insurgents when it came under fire.
