ORIADE SUNTA: ONDO ANGRY YOUTH CHASE KING FROM PALACE.

Angry youths in Itaogbolu community in Akure North local government area of Ondo State yesterday chased their traditional ruler out of his palace over what they alleged as the diabolical killing of a policeman identified as Ayo Oloyede. Oloyede was attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Ondo State Police Command before he died in an accident last Sunday. A resident told LEADERSHIP that the youths in the community mobilised and chased the traditional ruler, Oba Idowu Faborode, the Ogbolu of Itaogbolu out of his palace after news of Ayodele’s death spread into town. It was further learnt that the youths accused the monarch of failing to perform his functions as well as protect his subjects. It was gathered that late Oloyede visited his mother and was heading back to Akure when the commercial vehicle he boarded somersaulted severely between Itaogbolu and Odudu village. BREAKING: NECO Registrar Godswill Obioma murdered by unknown gunmen Thenewsguru

Unknown gunmen on Monday night invaded the residence of Professor Godswill Obioma, crushing him in what his wife suspected to be an assassination. “The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Elizabeth Obioma told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Tuesday morning. Crying copiously, Mrs Obioma said her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, prowling in his compound, descended on him and strangled him. TheNewsGuru reports that Mr Obioma has been facing challenges to remove him from office as the head of NECO, a prominent examination body run by the Nigerian government. Obioma, 67, was appointed head of NECO barely a year ago on May 14, 2020. He hailed from Abia in Nigeria’s Igbo-dominated South-East region. The sad incident occurred barelly a day after Ahmed Gulak, a top politician of the ruling APC, was assassinated.

ARMED ROBBERS INVADED ALAAFIA ESTATE WITH POS IN CASE OF CASH LESS

No fewer than six (6) people have sustained severe injuries after some armed robbers invaded Alaafia Estate in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The incident occurred between the late hours of Sunday and early hours of Monday. Our correspondent gathered that about twenty armed robbers stormed the estate around 11pm on Sunday night and operated till around 2pm on Monday morning. They dispossessed residents of valuables running into millions of naira. During the robbery operation, six residents of the area were wounded. DAILY POST gathered that the armed robbers had earlier robbed a Superintendent of Police and three flats a few days ago. Thirteen persons including a police officer have been killed after armed bandits attacked Beri town in Bobi district of Niger state. According to a statement released by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, the attack left several people injured. The agency added that the bandits also attacked Unguwan Malam Bako in Kotonkoro district and abducted unconfirmed number of people. The state governor, Abubakar Bello, in a statement released on Sunday, May 30, described the state of insecurity as a “war situation.” “The situation has reached crisis level, in fact it’s a war situation that we have to confront without further delay” he said
