BREAKING NEWS :Yoruba Group Expose Those Behind Sunday Igboho’s Detention In Cotonou

Yoruba Nation agitators under the aegis of Yoruba Koya Liberation Movement have accused the Minister of Justice and AGF, Abubakar Malami and Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, Tukur Buratai, of being behind the detention of Sunday Igboho. The group made this known in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Communications, Oluwafemi Oluwajuyitan. The Yoruba group warned President Muhammadu Buhari and other officers of the federal government against putting political pressure on Benin Republic to jail Ighoho. BREAKING: Benin Republic files fresh charges against Sunday Igboho

Benin Republic has filed fresh charges against Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, who was arrested in the country last Monday. Ibrahim Salami, one of the Cotonou, Benin Republic-based lawyers of Sunday Igboho, disclosed the new charges after Monday’s hearing, where Igboho was ordered to remain in police custody in Benin Republic. Before the hearing, Salami had said that the legal team was expecting extradition charges from the Nigerian government against the activist. However, he said Sunday Igboho was confronted with fresh charges when he appeared on Monday. The law professor said Igboho was further remanded to allow police to conduct a thorough investigation into the charges, which included illegal migration, dubious connivance with immigration officers and an attempt to cause civil unrest. BREAKING: Benin Republic Security Operatives Have Removed Igboho’s Handcuffs, Granted Him Access To Wife—Yoruba Group

He said, “We are pleased to inform all Yoruba people and well-wishers that the security operatives in Benin Republic have removed leg chain and handcuffs from Chief Ighoho since Saturday evening. “Chief Ighoho’s wife has now been granted access to meet her husband three times daily. “Medical personnel provided by our legal team have examined Chief Sunday Adeyemo. “We reiterate that Chief Ighoho is not under any immigration-related probe in Benin Republic. “Chief Sunday Adeyemo will appear in court this morning in Benin Republic to face the likely extradition charges to be brought against him by the Nigerian Government. "We urge supporters from Nigeria not to bother coming to the court premises in Benin. Kindly stay in Nigeria and support with prayers and whatever you can do within the ambit of the law. We are confident that Chief Igboho shall be set free.” Igboho was arrested last Monday in Benin Republic while trying to go to Europe from there.

Omoyele Sowore, convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, has been arrested by security operatives at the federal high court in Abuja. Sowore, who was at the court premises, said he had come to attend the hearing of the five youths that were arrested for wearing #BuhariMustGo branded shirts at Dunamis Church. TheCable learnt the activist, alongside his aide who was doing a live-stream of events in front of the court, was arrested by police officers. ”I have just been arrested by the Nigerian police at the federal high court. Subjected to beatings by police officers and taken to the Federal Secretariat police station,” a message sent to TheCable by the activist said. But he was later released by the police. The federal high court is where Nnamdi Kanu’s trial is expected to continue on Monday. There is a presence of heavy security at the court.
