  European Union   is looking to Nigeria as an alternative to augment its gas needs. The Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Department of Energy, Matthew Baldwin, said Friday “Europe is in a tight spot in relation to gas following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and instability in our gas market, the threat perhaps to cut off supply altogether.” Mr Baldwin, who visited Abuja, told journalists that the EU is looking to increase Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) imports from Nigeria to above the current levels. Nigeria currently supplies 14 per cent of the EU’s gas imports, while 60 per cent of the entire shipments of LNG from Nigeria goes to Europe, he said.

A middle-aged man, Muhammed Mukailu, is currently on the run after he was accused of killing his landlord following a dispute over rent. The incident happened on Monday morning in Dakwa area of Dei-Dei, Abuja. According to a neighbour of Mukailu, trouble started on Monday morning after Mukailu hit his landlord Adegoke Tunde, with a plank on his head over an argument on outstanding rent payment. https://tribuneonlineng.com/tenant-flees-after-allegedly-killing-landlord-over-rent-in-abuja The neighbour said while they were arguing, Mukailu carried a plank and hit his landlord and he fell on the floor, immediately Mukailu noticed that he ran away. Our correspondent spotted the former Borno State Governor and his successor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, being ushered in to see the President at minutes before 04:00 pm on Wednesday. The meeting comes hours after Shettima’s official unveiling as the running mate to the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. Visiting the President at his Daura home on July 10, Tinubu had revealed that he chose Shettima because “he is competent, capable and reliable”.
