Fishermen in Ondo state have solicited for the support of the state government in areas of safety and infrastructural development in the coastal communities, saying the waterways are no longer safer for businesses, while users of the waterways are now at high risk. The fishermen under the auspices of Fishermen association of Nigeria, lamented the losses they are incurring as a result of the incessant boat mishap on the waterways caused by seaweed or hyacinth. The National Chairman of the fishermen, Orioye Gbayisemore, said the development has affected their businesses and source livelihood without any compensation from the state government.

A former Kaduna State Senator and human rights activist, Shehu Sani,has warned Nigerians against collecting the N8,000 palliative from President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Tinubu recently got approval for the N500 billion he sought from the National Assembly as palliative for 12 million households worst affected by the removal of fuel subsidy.  According to a letter to the House of Representatives, the president said 12 million families would get N8,000 over a period of six months to ameliorate the hardships faced as a result of the subsidy removal. Nigerians have started condemning the move of President Bola Tinubu to transfer N8000 to the bank account of 12 million households for six months. THE Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has warned factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, to stop plans to stage in Lagos State, the sit-at-home protest currently being en- forced in the South East to press the Federal Government for the release of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, from detention. Aare Onakakanfo Adams cautioned IPOB against con- templating such a move or at- tempt to impose IPOB agenda on Lagos or any other part of the South West because the region is not Biafra Republic. Reports had quoted Ekpa as hinting in a tweet on Wednesday of plans by IPOB to repli- cate the sit-at-home in Lagos.
