PLATEAU GOV: LALONG RELAXES CURFEW IN JOS-hixcoblog

Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong has relaxed curfews imposed on parts of the state due to insecurity. The Governor, in a broadcast on Monday, said the 24-hour curfew in Jos North is now to be enforced from 6pm to 6am until further notice. “The curfew in Jos South and Bassa is to also be further relaxed,” Lalong said. “As from Monday 30th August 2021, the curfew shall be enforced between 10pm to 6am until further notice.” READ ALSO:  [ Plateau Attacks] There Are ‘Sacred Cows’ Who Have Escaped Justice – Commissioner The Governor noted that the ban on tricycles (Keke Napep) and hawkers remains in place within Jos/Bukuru metropolis. Also, he announced that the Plateau Economic and Investment Summit earlier scheduled for September 1 and 2 has been postponed. “A new date will be announced and communicated to all our invitees,” the Governor said. “We apologise for any inconveniences this postponement might cause.”

The federal government has flagged off another phase of N-Power programme for another batch of beneficiaries. But complaints have continued to trail the programme across states by some of the beneficiaries under Batch A and B who are reportedly being owed their stipends and cannot get the promised starter packs to become self reliant, Daily Trust on Sunday reports. The N-Power programme was created five years ago to address youth unemployment and increase social development. The scheme was created for unemployed graduates and non-graduates between the ages of 18 and 35. It is a paid programme of a two-year duration, aimed at engaging beneficiaries in their states of residence. N-power gives beneficiaries jobs in the government or support them to create a permanent business of their own. They work with federal and state agencies and are paid N30,000 stipend as salary.

A Professor of History and International Relations at the Lagos State University, Abolade Adeniji, has urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), not to rely on external assistance to combat Nigeria’s anti-terror war against Boko Haram fighters ravaging Borno, Yobe, and other states in the North-East. There is tension in Ile-Ife and Modakeke in Osun State as at least five persons were found brutally murder while going to their farm. Sources told DAILY POST that the bodies were found in Modakeke in the early morning of Friday at Toro road.
