HYDRATION

Published from Blogger Prime Android App

It's great for your kidney
Water keeps kidney health in check since the kidneys maintain the body’s water balance by controlling the concentration of blood plasma, and the salt levels in the urea. It also keeps ailments like Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) at bay and reduces the risk of kidney stones.

Drinking adequate water is an instant pick-me-up not just for the body, but for the brain as well. The brain cells require an adequate amount of water to function properly. Dehydration and the loss of water can also cause short-term memory and decision-making problems – right from working on a presentation at work, to helping your toddler with simple maths. To keep long-term memory-related problems like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s at bay as well, it is ideal that you get enough water into your body. Not only does it keep you feeling alert, fresh and rehydrated, your brain can actually tell the difference between having enough water, and having no water!

Water is free
You know what they say about the best things in life being free – air and love for instance? That’s true in the case of water as well. Unlike other fancy packaged drinks, most of us are lucky enough to enjoy this elixir of life without any added cost. We just need to double boil the water released by the corporation or invest in a one-time RO filter at home, for as much drinking water as we need. Sometimes, in our quest for bottled water, we neglect to factor in the cost implications, the environmental waste that the plastic bottles are creating, the fact that treated water is also stripped of its natural minerals. So try and carry a bottle of your own water whenever you step out and keep bottled water for emergencies – like when you’re not sure of the quality of water that’s being served up otherwise.

It's good for skin protection

When you drink water, not only does it hydrate your insides, it reflects on your skin as well. It keeps your skin from getting dehydrated and prevents premature fine lines and wrinkling. When your skin is hydrated, it also plumps and firms up the skin, keeping it soft and supple, and lesser susceptible to acne, sunburn and the side effects of pollution. Drinking enough water is also great for the lips since it keeps them firm and hydrated. It is also good to keep the eyes moist as well. Besides, drinking enough water for skincare, keep splashing or spraying it on your face every few hours for that added boost of moisture. Use a facial mist, but if you don’t want to splurge on one, just plain drinking water refilled in a spray bottle every day is a good idea.

Through the day, you tend to consume food, drink and snacks that may contain chemicals and toxins. You’ll also most likely breathe in polluted air, and expose your body to stress and lifestyle-related toxic waste. Some of that damage can be combated by drinking adequate water. It gets rid of the waste in your system, which tends to come out either through sweat or urine – the more you drink, the more you’ll push out toxic waste! What’s more, it is the ultimate hangover cure. The morning after, just keep sipping on adequate water to get your mojo back. While guzzling down the alcohol as well, remember to keep sipping water in between drinks to keep yourself hydrated and reduce the side effects of the drink.
